Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Centro de Estudos da Consciência (Center for Consciousness Studies) collects on this site, why we collect it, whom we share it with, and your rights regarding that data. It applies to the pages of centrodeestudos.org. Last revised: October 25, 2026.
Who is responsible
CEC is a nonprofit association founded in 1998, based at St. Damian Monastery — Rod. Eng. Constâncio Cintra, s/n, Amparo, São Paulo, Brazil. CEC decides what data is collected and for what purposes. You can contact us at any time at cec@centrodeestudos.org.
You can also reach our data protection officer at this email address, as provided for in Article 41 of Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
What the site collects
Only what you type and send. There is no tracking pixel from any network, and the public pages set no cookies at all. The only things the site keeps in your browser are two Library reading preferences — text size and the position of the mini video player — which never leave your device and disappear when you clear the site’s data. To know how many people visit the site, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate, without cookies and without identifying you.
There are seven forms, and each asks only for what it needs:
Contact — name, email, phone and the message you write.
Become a member — name, email, WhatsApp, city, state and country.
Donate energy — name, email, country, city, address, and a declaration that you are not dependent on drugs, alcohol or tobacco.
Receive energy — the recipient’s name, email, country, city, preferred time and goal for the participation period.
Receive energy online — registration is done on a Google form (Google Forms), outside this site; what you submit there is stored by Google, in CEC’s account, and is used to give you access to the weekly session.
Share your experience — name, email, country, city, your account of the experience, and whether you authorize its publication, with or without your name and personal details.
Leave an energy program — email, the program you want to leave and, if you wish, the reason. You can also ask to be removed by emailing cec@centrodeestudos.org.
About the substance dependence declaration
The form for donating energy includes a checkbox where you declare that you are not dependent on drugs, alcohol or tobacco. This is sensitive personal data under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), so we want to explain why we ask for it: dependence affects the quality of the donated energy, and this condition is part of the practice itself. It is not a moral assessment or a judgment of anyone.
This information is used only for that purpose, is not shared outside the team coordinating the practice, and is not used to make any other decisions about you.
When you register someone else
The Receive Energy form lets you sign up someone you want to help. This means you are giving us another person’s data, and the law expects that person to know about it and agree. Ask for their permission before signing them up.
If someone signed you up and you do not want to take part, email cec@centrodeestudos.org. We will end your registration and delete the record. You do not need to give a reason.
What we use it for
We use your data to respond to you, provide the service you requested — donating or receiving energy remotely, becoming a member, or attending the online session — and keep records so our team can follow up on each activity.
We do not sell, rent or transfer personal data to third parties, under any circumstance. And we do not use what you write to us to train artificial intelligence systems.
We publish accounts of experiences only when you select the authorization checkbox on the form. Otherwise, your account stays with our team.
Where we store your data
Every submission is stored in the site’s database, which is accessible only to people with an administrator account. You will usually receive an email confirmation, sent from an automated address (to prevent abuse, the site limits how many confirmations it sends to the same address each day); if you reply to it, your reply reaches our institutional mailbox, cec@centrodeestudos.org. Membership requests are also forwarded to the team at that address.
On what legal basis
Submitting a form constitutes your consent for that specific purpose, and you may withdraw it at any time. When an ongoing relationship already exists — registration for the Daily Assistance Practice, for example — we process the data to carry out what was agreed. If the law requires us to retain a record, that legal requirement takes precedence.
Who we share it with
With no one beyond the services that make the site work: hosting, the site’s delivery and protection network (Cloudflare), the database, the email delivery service and, for the online session sign-up, Google Forms. Those providers process the data on our behalf and under our instructions, and may not use it for their own purposes.
Some of this infrastructure uses servers outside Brazil. Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD) permits this provided the same level of protection is maintained, which is what we require of our service providers.
Third-party content on the pages
Some pages load material hosted elsewhere: thumbnails of the videos on our YouTube channel, episode artwork from Spotify, the photos of people who left Google reviews and, on the contact and Monastery pages, the Google Maps map.
When this material loads, your browser connects directly to those services, which can see your IP address, as on any site that displays third-party content. We do not control what those services record; their own privacy policies govern their handling of that information.
The same applies when you leave our site: the WhatsApp links for support and the community, the store and the Members' Area lead to external sites. Their rules apply once you follow those links.
How long we keep it
We keep data for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Registration to receive energy lasts three months; after that, the record is discarded unless you renew. Contact messages are kept for as long as they are useful in responding to your inquiry. Accounts authorized for publication are kept for as long as they remain published. You can request deletion before any of these periods ends.
Your rights
Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD) gives you the right to confirm whether we process your data; access and correct it; request anonymization, blocking, deletion or portability; learn whom we share it with; and withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not make earlier processing unlawful.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you equivalent rights, including the right to object to processing and to complain to your country's data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email cec@centrodeestudos.org. We respond within fifteen days, free of charge.
Children and young people
This site is not intended for anyone under 16, and none of our forms asks for age. If a parent or guardian discovers that a child or teenager has submitted data without the parent’s or guardian’s consent, they can email cec@centrodeestudos.org and we will delete the record.
Security
The site uses encrypted connections only. Access to data is restricted to those who need it for their work, and our forms are protected against automated submissions. No system is immune to incidents. If an incident poses a significant risk to you, we will notify you and Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version takes effect on this page and the date at the top is updated. We will notify registered participants of any changes that materially affect how their data is used.
