Summary
The chakras are always functioning, and their intensity varies with the environment and emotions. Their development is a process involving consciousness and individual growth, with no formula for activation. Meditation involves the higher chakras and brings temporary calm, since consciousness is usually in the emotional chakras. The goal is to keep the higher chakras functioning more powerfully most of the time. This level of consciousness is associated with more organized and wiser behavior.

When do we know that a chakra is active? I would like to know about the higher chakras, especially the frontal and the heart chakra. How do you activate the higher chakras? When are the laryngeal, frontal, and crown chakras active? Is there an eighth chakra? It is not possible to activate or deactivate chakras, because they are always working. There is no such thing as "now I am going to activate my crown chakra."
In a place out in nature, surrounded by trees, plants, water, and earth, where the air is pure, the crown chakra tends to work more intensely, because it works with immanent energies. If you are in a crisis or arguing with someone, your emotional chakras will be more active. There is no formula for activating them; it is a process of development and consciousness.
Practicing meditation involves working with higher chakras at some point, but it is something passing. During meditation, we feel calm and tranquility, but we cannot sustain it because our consciousness is usually in the emotional chakras. The development of the chakras is a path of evolution and individual growth. From my point of view, the goal is to keep that chakra activated with greater power most of the time. A person who works at the level of the crown chakra shows behaviors associated with that level. If someone operates at the level of the sex chakra or the base chakra, their behaviors are more primitive. At the higher level, however, the person is more organized, wiser, and is at a quite satisfactory point of evolution. Everything we are and wish to be is contained within us.
