Summary

Talking about problems or exercising brings temporary relief from emotional charges, but we continue to produce them. That is why we need to understand who we are and work toward inner reorganization, a process that takes time and cannot be handed over to anyone else. Serious and sincere therapy with a professional who listens and understands can help along the way.

Source transcript

Moisés, I would like to know how to deal with our emotional charges, such as anger, resentment, envy, and guilt. In my therapeutic process, I perceive my "emotional lump" more clearly and I think that, at times, I may feel that weight on me energetically. What should I do with it? How can I free myself from it? Should I try to understand it, feel it, talk about it, discharge it onto something or someone, or channel it into something productive? How can we actually free ourselves, instead of merely sublimating this emotional burden?

When we talk about our problems, we are discharging them at some level. That discharge—whether by talking or by doing physical exercise—brings momentary relief, but it does not resolve the continuous production of those emotions. Shouting at someone, for example, also brings relief, but it does not eliminate the source. The issue is that we cannot free ourselves from what we are. We need to understand that inner "spring," which never stops gushing, and perhaps use it in a healthy way, without cluttering up our being. Uncovering who we are is essential. Therapy can help, because we talk with someone who can understand us. However, it is important to choose a professional who truly understands and listens, since not everyone has that capacity.

The emotional charges we carry are produced by us. We can relieve them, but they come back. The solution lies in serious and sincere therapy that helps us to reorganize and resolve things internally, discarding what has already been understood and brought into alignment. This is not resolved from one day to the next; it is a course to be traveled. Finding a sincere professional who listens to us and understands us is one path. There are other paths, but I believe, for example, that when you follow a philosophy, through repetition we do not improve: we hypnotize ourselves. However, working through our own issues is an individual course that we cannot transfer to anyone. The solution lies within us, but someone can help us.
