Summary
Passion is a euphoric drive of the base chakra, linked to neediness and desires, that can quickly fade. Love is in the heart chakra and involves maturity, organization, and discernment: saying no is sensible, without intending to destroy the other person, whereas in passion one either cannot say no or says it violently. Happiness requires overcoming emotional childhood and adolescence; passion should not extend beyond the third seven-year cycle, when we should organize life with discernment.

Human factors: let us talk about passion. What is passion? Passion is a drive, a euphoria. In the spiritual aspect, it is born in the base chakra, which leaves us clouded. Often, we confuse passion with love. There are funny stories of people who, after meeting someone at a nightclub, already start planning the future within a few days. Within a week, they are already saying that they know each other from another reincarnation.
That is the drive of the chakra in action, without a healthy, intelligent, organized, and rational construction. Passion is an intense acceleration of our chakra, linked to the neediness and desires that it contains. The impression that the other person causes in us can be influenced by unconscious memories, such as someone who left a mark on our life or a figure seen in magazines or films. Passion can be overwhelming, but it can also end quickly. When it is invested in, it can last about a year and a half, until the cycle of the base chakra is exhausted. As long as sexuality sustains the relationship, it continues.
However, a relationship based only on passion can last up to four years, when the neediness and the remnants of the first moments are no longer enough to maintain the union. Passion is not love. Passion is in the base chakra, whereas love is in the heart chakra. Love involves maturity, organization, and discernment, both on the external path and on the internal one. In passion, either we cannot say no, or the "no" is said with violence; in love, it is a sensible "no," without the intention of destroying the other person. Love is guided by good sense, without emotional charge.
In order to attain happiness, we need to overcome our emotional childhood and adolescence. Often, in youth, we have no guidance or we do not want to listen to advice, because drives are stronger than good sense. Society, through the media, uses fear to manipulate emotions and sell more. We need to be aware of this, even if we have to act this way out of a need for survival. Passion has a course and should not go beyond the third seven-year cycle. In the first seven-year cycle, we are children and know nothing. In the second, from 7 to 14 years of age, we have more information today and probably make fewer mistakes. In the third seven-year cycle, at around 21 or 22 years of age, we should have the discernment to organize life.
